WORK DAY

Work days are a necessary part of maintaining Club trails, grounds, and buildings for everyone to use. Members could work in groups to groom existing trails, create new trails, or weed eat along trails to name a few tasks.

Members who wish to work alone are encouraged to come to work days as well where they can pick up a chain saw and ride the trails for down trees, check for missing trail signs, or even prune brush along the trail. Members who cannot attend work days are encouraged to check out our project list (under construction) to see what they can do at the club. You may have to bring your own tools as there may not be anyone there to give access to the tool shed.

Work days are scheduled monthly. There are times when extra work days are needed or changed when this happens an email is sent to let members know.

Check our Events page for the work day schedule.

To receive the work day emails sign up for our News letter.

Check out our project list for tasks that need done.

GRANT WRITING

Applying for grants is another way Indian Creek Valley ATV club tries to keep the cost of membership fees down by paying for trail maintenance, creating new trails, and help to purchasing new land and equipment. Below are three examples of Grants the club has applied for in the past.

Polaris T.R.A.I.L.S: The Polaris application is only one page, but answering the questions to present our project needs clearly and cost estimates of the project for a successful award.

Prior awarded Grants where used :

  • To hire excavation equipment and operator for trail work.

  • Purchase Signage for new and existing trails.

  • Purchase shale to repair existing trails and filling in mud holes.

YAMAHA Outdoor Access Initiative (OAI): The Yamaha grant application is much more involved than Polaris, but we still need to present out project needs clearly and cost estimates of the project for a successful award.

Prior awarded Grants where used :

  • To help purchase the club’s Viking for trail maintenance.

  • To hire excavation equipment and operator for trail work.

  • Purchase Signage for new and existing trails.

  • Build the Bridge on trail 200.

DCNR Grants: Working on this Grant can be time consuming for one person, but if multiple people work together it can be broken down in manageable pieces. Our ATV Registration is used to fund this grant and can be used for Club projects that include the planning, acquisition of land, development, rehabilitation, maintenance, purchase of equipment for maintenance and construction, and development of educational programs related to ATV and/or snowmobile trails and facilities.

Prior awarded Grants where used :

  • To help with purchase of land where the club is located and the 300 trails.

  • Fund the ICV’s Master Plan.

  • Trail head building (still in process).

FUNDRAISING

The money we collect through our fundraising efforts, along with annual membership fees, goes towards Club improvement projects, land, and administrative costs. The money we take in enables us to purchase materials needed for trail maintenance, such as gravel for filling in holes, sign posts, diesel fuel and gasoline for maintenance equipment, etc. We also maintain accounts to help purchase or lease additional land for new trails.
